Age Is Not a Barrier: Biliana Negrine’s Modelling Journey
I’m Biliana Negrine, 56 years young, and proud to say that I’ve only just begun my journey in the modelling world. It’s been an unexpected but beautiful chapter in my life.
My roots are in performance—I spent the 1990s as a professional Latin American dancer with the Brazilian Latin Dance Co. The stage was my second home, and movement has always been a part of my soul. But life took a different turn when I became a stay-at-home mum for 26 years, raising my family with love and dedication. I wouldn’t trade those years for anything.
Then, in my 50s, something amazing happened—I accidentally fell into modelling. Diversity Models gave me a chance, and I took it with both hands. They believed in me and helped me prove that age is not a barrier and beauty has no expiry date.
Fashion has always been my passion. I like to think that my love for it influenced my son Dylan, who is now a talented fashion designer based in Melbourne. We live and breathe creativity in our household.
One of my proudest moments has been walking the runway at the Toowoomba Fashion Festival for two consecutive years and appearing on the Queensland Arts Festival runway. Runway is definitely my favourite type of modelling—it brings me right back to the stage, where I’ve always felt alive and most myself.
This journey has reminded me that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. My modelling career is just beginning, and I plan to keep going for as long as the industry will have me. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I hope my story inspires others to embrace their age and follow their passions, no matter when they begin.
